Our Partner in Ethiopia – JeCCDO

Jerusalem Children and Community Development Organization (JeCCDO) is our long-standing partner. For over 35 years we have formed a partnership of two organisations (PFC Ethiopia in the UK and JeCCDO in Ethiopia) to support children within their local communities to live fulfilled and creative lives. Together, we have supported 325,000 children, 142 local community groups and 2.9 million people.

JeCCDO was established in 1985 in response to the needs of displaced and orphan children during the famine of 1983-1985. Its mission has evolved from providing institutional care to using a successful integrated community based approach to support children within their local communities. JeCCDO empowers local communities in Ethiopia to understand their rights and provide children and young people with opportunities to reach their full potential.

JeCCDO is national in its reach but local in its approach to implementing its development projects. It operates in 23 urban and semi urban towns across four regional states: Oromia, Amhara, SNNPR, Sidama and Addis Ababa. All its projects are implemented in partnership with over 140 Community Based Organisations (CBO) and in collaboration with local government offices of the Education department. The organisation has 131 staff who are based in Addis Ababa and in four regional offices in Ethiopia. They who work across over 18 projects during the year.
