GIFT AID FAQs
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your gift to PFC Ethiopia at no extra cost to you. If you pay tax in the UK, PFC Ethiopia can reclaim the basic rate of tax you have paid on your gift from the government, which increases the value of your donations by 25%. Therefore if you donate £100 it is worth £125 to PFC Ethiopia.
What is a Gift Aid declaration?
A Gift Aid declaration is a statement by an individual taxpayer that they want a charity to receive the tax paid on their donation back from the government.
Am I eligible for Gift Aid?
For PFC Ethiopia to reclaim the tax you have paid on your donations, you must have paid income or capital gains tax in the UK for each tax year (6th April to 5th April) at least equal to the tax that all charities you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. For example, if you donate £10 to us, you must have paid at least £2.50 in tax to be eligible for Gift Aid.
I’m a pensioner, am I eligible for Gift Aid?
As a pensioner, you are still eligible for Gift Aid if you pay tax on a pension plan, pay capital gains tax, or sell property or shares.
How do I sign up to Gift Aid?
To sign up for Gift Aid you will need to make a Gift Aid declaration. You can do this by signing up to Gift Aid by completing the online Gift Aid form above.
How long does my declaration last for?
The declaration wording covers present, future and past donations and allows us to back-claim four years and continue to claim until you tell us otherwise, so long as you are eligible.
